Youth led action against alcohol and other drugs harm

The collaboration between the IOGT-NTO Movement and the Rwanda Girl Guides Association (RGGA) in the project ”Youth Led Action Against Alcohol and Drugs Harm” represents a dedicated effort to mitigate the impact of alcohol and drug abuse among young people in Rwanda. Spanning nine districts—Kicukiro, Nyarugenge, Rubavu, Rusizi, Karongi, Burera, Kirehe, Nyagatare, and Kayonza—the project aims to achieve a significant reduction of alcohol-related harm by 30% among the youth.

Central to our vision is empowering Rwandan youth with education about the detrimental effects of alcohol and drug substances. Through comprehensive awareness campaigns and targeted educational programs, we aim to equip young individuals with the knowledge and skills needed to resist the pressures of substance abuse and make informed decisions for their health and well-being.

By fostering increased resilience among youth towards alcohol and drug consumption, our initiative seeks to catalyze positive social change within communities. We envision a future where the youth in these project areas not only reject harmful substances but also actively contribute to creating supportive environments that promote healthy lifestyles and holistic well-being.

Looking ahead to 2027, our joint efforts with RGGA aspire to leave a lasting impact, where empowered youth play a pivotal role in driving transformative change and building resilient communities across Rwanda.
