Objective 5 - Gender equality

Gender equality means that women and men have the same rights, obligations and the opportunity to share resources, influence and power in society. Violence against women and discrimination are both bad for the victim and for development in the world.

Alcohol and drugs are often a major factor when it comes to violence and harassment and are therefore an obstacle to reaching a more equal world.

In order to overcome negative norms that affect how a “real man” or “real woman” should be, stereotypical behaviors need to be questioned and challenged. One of the norms is the alcohol norm, which unfortunately in large parts of the world says that it is masculine to drink beer and spirits. Violent behavior is often excused by the fact that the perpetrator was drunk. Why do you think so?

Tip!

Dare to speak out!

If you experience that you or someone else is being subjected to harassment or abusive treatment, dare to tell someone you trust about the incident.

Show your support!

Only 22% of the world's parliamentarians are women. Show support and stand behind those who advocate equal opportunities for women and men.

Get more knowledge!

Did you know that women's income is on average 10–30% lower than men's for the same work. Increase your awareness of gender equality and then spread your knowledge to others.

Tell us about your interpretation

Our interpretation is about the great difference that exists between people. The money bags differ far too much, for example between men and women when it comes to work.
