Our international work contributes to more people in low- and middle-income countries having the opportunity to get out of poverty. By preventing alcohol problems on the spot, we contribute to reducing poverty and men's violence against women. We also ensure that more children can go to school.
Alcohol is behind three million deaths each year and is one of the world's leading risk factors for ill health. In low- and middle-income countries, safety nets are often lacking. Therefore, the whole family risks getting caught up in poverty if someone drinks too much.
