Goal 2 - No hunger

Hunger is what most people in the world die of. Today, approximately 821 million people are starving. Lack of food is a disaster, both for those who suffer from it and for society's opportunity to develop. What can solve the lack of food is above all sustainable agriculture and a fairer distribution of the food that is available.

In many families, the income goes to alcohol and drugs instead of food on the table, education or health care. And it is a vicious circle, people living in poverty have an increased risk of ending up in addiction, which in turn reduces the possibility of getting out of poverty. This means that efforts against addiction are also effective in reducing poverty. The IOGT-NTO movement supports initiatives in 14 countries.

Tip!

Learn to cook!

By learning to cook, you can ensure that you (and perhaps people around you) get good, nutritious and healthy food.

Do not throw away food!

If you have fruit or any other food that you do not want to eat, do not throw it away! Give it to someone who needs it instead.

Play Free Rice every day!

One simple thing you can do to counteract hunger is to play the UN quiz game Free Rice. When you answer a question correctly, 10 grains of rice are donated to a family that needs food.

Food is the body's fuel. Unfortunately, not everyone has the same access to it. And in a world where the climate crisis is worsening, we may all need to find alternatives to where we get it from.
