Objective 15 - Ecosystems and biodiversity

Millions of different animal species live in our forests, wetlands, drylands and mountains. Our environment is also important for our need for food, energy, water and materials to make things. In addition, our surroundings purify both air and water. When we destroy, for example through emissions or by cutting down forests, it threatens both the animals and our survival.

Did you know that vertebrates (such as giraffes, birds and reptiles) have decreased by 60 percent (!) Since 1977? Alcohol production is a contributing factor to this as it requires a lot of water and land, as well as releasing dangerous toxins into nature that affect animals and plants and threaten the ecosystem. In several places around the world, the local population is protesting against the emissions from the alcohol industry. Unfortunately, many countries lack the environmental legislation that exists in Sweden. Consumers, politicians, business, researchers; we must all help each other to protect our arable land, our rivers and seas for future generations.

What do you think you can do?

Tip!

Stop illegal trade!

Do not buy products that have been developed through illegal wilderness trade and that threaten to exterminate animal species.

Take care of nature!

It takes about 20-25 years for a chewing gum to break down by nature. Do not throw rubbish on the ground, but always use a wastebasket.

Avoid printing paper!

When you are going to print something, think twice about whether it is really needed. Maybe you can write it down on your computer or mobile phone instead?

He made his book debut in 2009 with Trollkungen, but had already made a name for himself in the comics and art world with comics in Galago and Hjälp! as well as participation in international anthologies and exhibitions. In Kolbeinn Karlsson, Sweden simply has a young series creator with a personal vision that is not followed by cartoonists like Joakim Pirinen or Max Andersson.

The thin string between the world inside and the world outside
I have worked from thoughts about our relationship to the planet and the ecosystem, how we relate to something we are 100% dependent on to work, while we are drawn into ourselves more than ever. A coexistence, which is also a responsibility and a recognition of our own needs. No human is an island.
