New collaboration to strengthen young people's democratic rights
IOGT-NTO Movement is proud to have initiated a new collaboration with the American organization National Endowment for Democracy (NED). The purpose of the collaboration is to strengthen young people's opportunities to understand, protect and exercise their democratic rights – both in theory and in practice.
The initiative focuses on offering young people training in human rights, democratic leadership and social impact. Through coaching, networking and support for young people's own initiatives, they are given tools to actively participate in local decision-making processes and drive change in their communities.
– Democracy is not something that can be taken for granted, and it is crucial that young people have the opportunity to be involved in shaping the society of the future. Together with NED, we want to contribute to long-term and sustainable change, says Johanna Davén, Secretary General of IOGT-NTO Movement.
The project is part of the organization's broader international work for human rights, peace and democracy, and at the same time represents an important strengthening of strategic cooperation with international donors.
