On December 26, 2024, it will be 20 years since the tsunami hit Asia. Our organization was entrusted to lead Sweden's aid effort in Sri Lanka, where we worked around the clock to meet the extensive needs of the disaster.
The tsunami of December 26, 2004 caused unimaginable devastation. For our organization, this became one of the greatest challenges of modern times – and a historic moment of solidarity. We mobilized resources for emergency relief, built water purification systems and laid the foundations for long-term community development.
Our work became an example of how collaboration and commitment can change lives. When we now look back on the last 20 years, we want to thank everyone who supported us - together we make a difference.
