The IOGT-NTO movement has recently appeared in the media and was incorrectly linked to the purchase of Social Democrats' lottery ticketsHere you can read facts about what happened.  

 

Is it the IOGT-NTO movement non-profit association that has bought the Social Democrats' lottery operations? 

No. The IOGT-NTO organization has purchased the lottery business. The IOGT-NTO non-profit organization is a separate legal entity and has not participated in the transaction. 

 

Has aid money from Sida or ForumCiv been used to buy the lottery? 

No. No development aid from Sida or ForumCiv has been used in the acquisition of the lottery business. The IOGT-NTO movement non-profit organization only works with development aid. 

 

What is the difference between IOGT-NTO and the IOGT-NTO movement non-profit association? 

IOGT-NTO is a non-profit, non-partisan and religiously independent organization and people's movement with 20 members in Sweden. The IOGT-NTO movement non-profit association is a international aid organization that finances 18 development projects in 12 different countries.  

Both organizations are part of the broader temperance movement but have separate missions, finances and boards. 

The IOGT-NTO movement, a non-profit organization, was formed by four principals with a common core value of working for increased human rights, democracy and a safe life free from alcohol-related harm. IOGT-NTO is one of the principals. Please read more about us here.

 

Are there any money flows between the organizations? 

Ja. IOGT-NTO contributes to the IOGT-NTO movement's non-profit association's aid activities. No money goes the other way. The two organizations are separate and report their finances individually. 

 

Why has it been difficult to understand the difference between the organizations? 

We understand that it may be confusing that several organizations share names, but legally and financially we are clearly separate. Please read more about our activities here.
